Bending Exhaust Link Pipe

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Cream_Revenge, Mar 28, 2019.

  1. Hi

On my GSXR just got a new can but link pipe points to far out. I need to increase the final bend about 10-15 deg.

If I get all Neanderthal, heat it up and get some leverage will it bend? Or will it just crease?

    TIA

  2. It depends, are you using a blowtorch....if so then no it,s not hot enough. oxy is what you need. also what is it made from TI or stainless. if Ti then yes it will crease. Heat and gentle persuasion is what I use

  3. Just a 2k heat gun. It's stainless.

  4. errr no then, take it to a local farrier if you live in the country, or a local engineer if you live near civilisation.

  5. Crap. Thanks.

  6. MAP gas torch from a plumbers merchant will get it glowing enough...

  12. If you are going to try it,
fill it with sand before heating which will prevent creases .

  13. No it won't :)

  14. It will on copper pipe etc,
what would be different on this ?

  15. You would have to put wet sand in, pack it tight and weld the ends up...

  16. It will kink or split or both. Stainless doesn't work as well as iron or steel.

  17. Just bend it, I'm confident you'll be fine :eyes:

  18. Use a vice to stop it spreading maybe - don't burn yourself :eyes:

  19. Is there any local engineering, pipe bending, or exhaust centre that could help?
