848 Best Gearing For 848 Evo

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by Anthony848, Feb 19, 2017.

  1. To lower the gearing, is it better to get a smaller front sprocket or larger rear? Is it 15-39 stock? Also which brand chain and sprockets are best?

  2. 14 front and 39 rear

  3. Generally I believe it's better to go up on back as its more even chain wear and the front is not such a small pivot for the chain/tighter radius. Also less strain on output shaft I think I read. Costs more and you may need an extra link for +3.

    14t front is easier.

  4. 14/39, works on road and most tracks :)

  5. I tried 15/40 15/41 and 14/39. 14/39 was the most noticeable improvement (no surprise), and definitely the one I'd recommend.

  6. Ok thanks, I'll go for 14-39. Any recommendations for which brand?

  7. Always Renthal from B&C Express for me.

  8. I've got a slightly used 14T sprocket you can have for £10.00 posted

  9. Does the standard chain fit a 41 tooth rear sprocket OK?
