I have to remove and reseal my radiator water pump on my 1098 as it has developed a slight leak, a seepage really. Ive got some good quality liquid sealant ready to go, so my plan is to unbolt it, remove it, clear away the old sealant, apply the new stuff and then bolt it back together. Should be simple, probably wont be, but my main question is which is the best way to encourage the water pump off the engine case. I dont really want to pry it off with a screwdriver as this will damage both case and pump, possibly ruining one or both. I was think copper mallet and some AC/DC on the CD player, but just wanted to get some ideas
Rubber mallet whilst pulling/yanking on the pipe bit. Is it the Ducati 3bond you have? PS. I found Rammstein worked best during my Sprag episode...
Thanks Nelson. Ive got some of the proper Honda stuff that ive borrowed from my local dealer (£40 a tube by all accounts)
Yep, which is odd as the bike went down on the right side. I guess it could just be down to the vibrations running across the engine and frame etc. Im thinking a leaking water pump is the least of your probs Nelson  Anyway, how are you getting on? Getting better?
I'm mending ok mate, bruising is going down, been working from home for a few weeks. Bike has been formally Cat C'ed and the dopey cow that nearly killed me has finally accepted liability, well her insurance company has. Re-build is going well, just need to adapt to not riding on the road, which is hard when the sun finally comes out...:frown: Need a cheeky little track day to inspire me and get a bit of confidence back...
Watch out also for the small copper sealing washer on one of the mounting screws Matt. It's worth putting a bit of sealant on the thread of that screw as well
Sorted Thanks for the advice and help guys. All fixed now. In the words of Hannibal Smith 'I love it when a plan comes together'
