Big End Bearings Difference.

  1. Hi everyone currently got a 2008 1098 s engine project on the go at the moment, I have a class b crank & class b conrods with yellow bearing shells.

Just wondering if anyone knows the size difference between the blue & yellow bearing shells??

    Many thanks

  2. this is as per a 999 motor and i see no reason why it wouldn't be the same as the parts are interchangeable..

    red shells are 1.482 - 1.487.
    blue shells are 1.486 - 1.491

    conrods - a = 45.019 - 45.025, b = 45.013 - 45.019

    cranks - a = 42.006 - 42.014, b = 41.998 - 42.006

Surely it will be about what size is correct for your rods and crank measurements regardless of whether they are class b or not ..... once you have established that both are true round and not worn, plasti gauge is your friend for bearing clearance.

  3. Thanks for your reply to be honest plastigauge is ok if you want a quick measurement but it can be inconsistent up to a 0.3 of a thou out depending on room temperature etc.

I prefer a precision micrometor & bore mircrometor its far more accurate.

your measurements for the shells has answerd my question & has saved me a 75 mile round trip to ducati & buying all the different sizes cheers :upyeah:
