Was riding my 1098 SF on Thursday. 40 mph and it just cut out . No smoke or funny noises. It was if I hit the stop button. No codes or lights on dash to show a fault. Now it will not start!!! The starter spins but it does not fire. When I turn the key the fuel pump isnt as loud as it used to be... Ive checked all the normal culprits, knackered battery, relays, side stand switch etc. There is fuel in the tank ! Its in mantra motorcycles being looked at so hopefully it wont be too expensive. Any ideas or peeps had similar issues? Cheers
I would start by disconnecting the battery and cleaning the connections very well and if you have a big main fuse clean that as well
Sounds like a wire broke, chafed through, a connector came loose, that sort of thing. I bet it's something simple, if only you/Mantra can find it... Fingers crossed for you.
Does sound like a battery connection or regulator/rectifier fault. I doubt if its anything really drastic, just a case of finding it.
I thought he said no spark but reading back he says no firing, which is very different... Sounds like a good shout. Has Derek done it yet again??
check the key immobilizer pick up by the tank, if its broke it wont reconize the key and will cut out if your moving or wont start if you come back to it.
No the immobiliser won't cause the bike to cut out while it's running. The key/transponder is only active at switch-on.
10/10 Derek! Heard from the garage this afternoon. I called them yesterday and said that a chap on a forum had come across the"fuel line coming off problem before". Lo and behold that's what it was........Pick it up tomorrow. Boy have I missed her.....
