Work has this in Covent Garden today... They want rid of it and they only bought it 6 months ago for £5k. It has never been used. I will be transporting it to Hampstead later today - get in quick!!
Do you mean it is made of plywood veneered in birch? I suspect your company has more money than sense. The evidence for this is a) they paid 5 grand for it b) they didn't need it anyway. I hope you're putting in for a pay rise. Tell you what, for a lot less I'll make you a much nicer one.
£5K? Birch Plywood 4No. (max sheets) 8' x 4' @ £30 a sheet plus a large bottle of glue.........oh, and some varnish. My largest drawing board is 8' x 4' blockboard.....cost £10 including the stand....... But I bet that bench doesn't move when assembled....... Actually, I wouldn't mind having it, but no space for it.
Sorry I forgot the dimensions... 96cm x 80cm x 1.8m I thought the material was Birch Plywood but if that is not the case...? This is for a good cause remember...
We sell to the trade, not the public, so don't have the contacts to make the huge mark up. We make chair and sofa frames which are sold on to upholsterers who either sell direct to the public or to shops. We make a chair which one retailer sells for 1500 finished, and another retailer with their shop in Primrose Hill sells it for 4500 plus fabric. The shop in Primrose Hill sells far more than the cheaper outlet. Some people are just not happy unless they are spending large amounts of money.
Footballers and Arabs, that's where the real money is. We've just made six sofas for a client who is supplying them to a Sultan - I won't say which one but he is reputedly one of the wealthiest people in the world. Each one is over 3 metres long. They are to go in his private box at a rather prestigious French horse racing circuit. God knows how big the box is, but I reckon these sofas must be about 10-15 grand each.
