749 Black Swing Arm Finish - 749 / 999

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by Carbon749, Oct 19, 2020.

  1. Looking at giving the 2004 749r a "mild tidy up" over winter.

Can anyone confirm what the original finish of the swingarm was when new?

I think it was a black satin finish, which now shows signs of being over polished after 16 years. But I'm not sure if it was satin or gloss to start with.

Is the finish powder coat, paint or something else ?

  2. I've got a new one in a box somewhere :bucktooth: I think they were painted satin as you say @jusutus will know :):upyeah:

  3. I'd have guessed a decent satin black spray, but it seems harder earing than paint, and seems to chip more like powder coat.

If anyone can confirm, it will be greatly appreciated.

  4. My plan is to go for 100% stock, or as close to stock as possible.

  5. While we are thinking about this, what about the ohlins rear spring, painted or powder coated?

  6. New one
