Wow - what a great boxing match! It's about time we had a decent fight. You can deff see that Jnr has been crafted by his dad - like an old school pigs list.Fair play to his opponent though - what a warrior!
I hope Blackwell is going to be alright. The rest of the night's fights were cancelled after he was stretchered off from the ringside and taken to hospital. Looked on the news this morning and he is currently in an induced coma with a bleed on the brain. Beginning to wish I hadn't made that first post now. You'll rarely see a harder man fight with more guts than he did last night. I hope he makes a full recovery.
It all seems a bit barbaric to me. Whilst there is undoubted skill in boxing the primary objective is to knock out, i.e. inflict brain damage, upon the opponent.
God,I really hope so! I thought the ref called it about right but I just watched it again and maybe he should have called it a round or two earlier?Blackwell took a huge amount of head shots in last couple of rounds and although he was returning fire his punches didn't have enough power to keep Eubank off.Hate to say it as the last thing Boxing or the Eubank dynasty needs is another Michael Watson tragedy.Unfortunately because of the nature of the sport these things can happen- rare nowadays but they happen
Its easy to say that it should have been stopped earlier.Hindsight and all that. That s the way Blackwell defends.....with his face.Always keeps going and comes stronger the later the fight goes.Wish him well.
I take on board what you are saying and I am not putting any blame on ref - he is a great referee and did a proper job.I treat he'd the fight this morning in cold light of day and my opinion only - but Blackwell took a hell of a lot of hard headshot sand a lot of them in the same area
I wish him a total and speedy recovery as well - he has the heart of a lion and def had both Eubanks worried more than once.I love my boxing and god knows boxing fans paying huge ticket prices are well overdue a decent fight?I only had one fight and she knocked me out!
Freddie Mills was a hell of a fighter and a legend - you must be very proud to be related to him.I was literally ringside for Eubank v Watson 1 @ Earl's Court 2 and although it was very close 9 of my mates including myself gave the win to Michael Watson.A bloody tragedy what happened to Michael at the rematch and I think boxing learnt a lot that night about after fight medical care.Michael Watson is a true gentleman but although I don't think Eubank Snr blames himself for what happened he has never been the same man since.Hell of a lot of people don't like him (I was always a Nigel Benn man) but I met him at Royal Berkshire Polo and he is a great guy, amazing fast witt, well educated with impeccable manners and a very deep thinker
Sounds like the exact opposite of my lot! Not talked to any of them in over 12 years and my life is much better without them
Good post. I was a Eubank fan. I thought Nigel Benn was a knob (though I would never have told him that!) and loved it when Eubank beat him. Remember it like yesterday. And sure, I think Watson had that one in the bag. Then Eubank dragged his ass up off the canvass and threw a ridiculous/desperate right upper cut that landed! A shame it caused such a bad injury.
This was posted 49 minutes ago. No change in his condition. Sounds serious. Staying in a coma until the swelling goes down then a case of seeing what the damage is. Nick Blackwell remains in induced coma but condition stable after brutal Chris Eubank Jnr fight - Mirror Online Looking at it again he did take a hell of a battering and Eubank senior was right to try and stop it when he did. I'm sure it was genuine concern for Blackwell and wasn't just looking for the win.
I remember the Eubank v Watson fight at Earl's Court like yesterday! It was a mates birthday and we were 9/10 car dealers in the good ol days - proper getting hold of big paper and riding high.A good mate of mine was a ticket agent (Tout!) and he said he had proper seats nr front where all the celebs slide in so I took them! Proper seats??? - I'm not bullshitting - Dirty Den and Ange were a row behind us and we were next to some top earning big name snooker players (I'm not a grass so no names!) who had an ounce at least of Columbia's finest in a crisp packet of all things and one of those long silver cocktail stirrers. They just kept passing it up and down all night - great fight but wrong decision? Then after fight we limo'd in 2 cars to SW1's in Victoria for their opening night in VIP area and did God knows how many bottles of Pink?Woke up in some kazi of a hotel with people crashed out on every bit of available floor space and some proper minger of a moose asleep in the bath! We all got dressed very quietly, checked we still had our wedge and watches, put the bath plug in and put the cold tap on at just a trickle - I bloody loved that time of my life
If you listen to Chris Eubank Snr when he's in corner instructing his son before last round or two he says something to his boy like "I'm worried- why hasn't this referee stopped this fight? - I don't understand why he hasn't?" Then before Jnr gets up off stool he says " hit him in body or bodyshots - no more head shots son!" I think it felt like deja vous to Snr and he dint want his boy to go through the hell he went through after Michael Watson fight? And probably still is? I now got huge respect for Chris Eubank
Yeah, great days for me too. I was down in the Falklands for that fight so not such a great night for me. Think I woke up on a piss wet matrass with a map of Africa on it.... Hmmm, snooker players? Jimmy White? He was a boy. Liked boxing.
Hahaha - I told you I'm no Bertie Smalls but I was well surprised when I saw a couple of the "choirboy image" housewives favourites snorting for England!
Doncaster? So I'm guessing you weren't one of the Welsh boys who didn't like walking? Doubt you are scots guards? My money's on 2 Para!
Ha ha, no mate. I was a civvy contractor at the power stations dotted around the islands. I worked for Turner Diesel out of Glasgow back then. We had some great fun down there with all the squaddies but there was a distinct lack of flange I seem to remember. I did manage to bag off with a couple of ground sheets mind you. Right fukken munters but any port in a storm......
Hahaha - I've got a good mate - bastard looks like Brad Pitt - I'm more Gravel pit! He can still pull some proper honeys but loves a minger - especially if they are no stranger to a knife and fork! He reckons they put a lot more effort into a jump and do without doubt the best BJ's ever! He also says they know the best places to eat and don't mind paying for dinner.Says they are also handy to have around in case it kicks off cos they can proper have it!Ive never seen him have to call a minicab after a boys night out? Always an "Adele" who has wedged herself into a corsa or a clio waiting patiently outside to drive him home, jump him,do his washing and ironing then cook him a full English in morning. He reckons he is saving about £1000 a month on cabs, cafe, house cleaner, washing, ironing and hookers!
Fantastic news today that Nick Blackwell came out of his induced coma earlier today! He is awake and has been talking to his family and friends.I pray he makes a full and total recovery from a very worrying head injury. Its great to hear as some idiots were already talking doom and gloom bollox because so often these sort of injuries are life changing.I wish him well
