As per title, looking for headset to connect with my mates who use scala rider g9x sets. Either one of those or ive also been looking at interphone f5mc, and sena s20 which i believe should be compatible.
Not sure about Interphone but Sena Universal Intercom isn't the Rosetta Stone it's made out to be. It works pretty well in terms of the ability to talk to another brand. However, once paired you can't hear any of the other devices you have connected to the Sena such as your sat nav or phone. Pairing with the other headset uses a headset pairing protocol that results in an open channel. The only way to get your connectivity back for the other devices is for the other party to switch their headset off. It's a workaround but not particularly satisfactory. Met up with my touring buddy last night for a few beers, discussion about our upcoming Picos tour in June, booking of hotels and also comms issues. We tried Sena Universal Intercom against his Interphone f4. End result is that he wound up ordering a Sena 10U the same as mine. We did consider him getting a Sena SR10 hub and leads, which would connect to his Interphone, and borrow my spare PMR radio. This would give quite a range boost but also mean another two things to charge. Audio quality not as good as Bluetooth intercom either. Only really an option if others in your group already have PMR. PMR gives true group comms across as many riders as you like and, in the real world, 2-3 miles range in good conditions (as usual; buildings, mountains, trees in the way and this drops considerably). I have an external antenna for mine and with similarly equipped riders the range can be even better. Quite an investment to get properly kitted out though, Bluetooth headset to Bluetooth headset is cheaper and far simpler. In short, from my experience, best to buy the same brand headset as your riding buddies.
