1200 DVT Bluetooth Handlebar Mounts - Are They Needed?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Noble Ron, Oct 31, 2017.

  1. I have a 2017 DVT Pikes Peak and Schuberth C3 Pro Helmet Plus Garmin Zumo 395. As the bike has a Bluetooth system I thought I would try the Sena 10U (Bluetooth 4.1) as it seems people on the internet rate it above the Schuberth system.

I got the handlebars units from Amazon to try-and-return the items if necessary. The Sena Handlebar Remote and the RC4 units. As I received them I wondered, is there any need for these as the DVT bikes have some functionality that in theory would render these items redundant.

I am waiting for delivery of the Sena 10U unit, so can't test these handlebar mounts yet. Anybody got any experience in this? It just dawned on me that this might be a topic that has been discussed at length so apologies.

  2. No you do not need anything. The bike has a bluetooth hub built into the bike which will accept 5 inputs. I am using 3 so far as ride solo. Headset, Sat nav & telephone all paired to bike.

  3. I've never thought of this @Steviegtr, can you use the DVT's bluetooth controls to access all the 10u's features, like volume, radio, phone and so on ?
Brilliant if you can, as the Senna handset even though it looks quite narrow, does crowd the handlebar grip and has to be positioned just so, to stop it foulling the clutch lever.

  4. Don't think the Bluetooth offers that utopia type integration, if so I haven't found it yet!, use the Sena remote for switching in and out of comms to the missus and volume control in the main, agree it gets in the way on the handlebar so I mount mine around the mirror arm at the bottom, still accessible and doesn't interfere with the other controls or the clutch :)

  5. I have the 10U but the remote is still in the box after 2 years. Don't see the point in it. My GPS connects directly to the 10U with no problems and I have never felt the need to buy the optional bluetooth module to my Supersport as it would just be added complication to a system that works fine as it is.

  6. Not sure about all those functions you mention. I can select music from phone , scroll select etc, etc. All shows up on bike display.
