Hi I have never changed the fluid on a bike with ABS. When changing fluid on my other bikes I simply use an old bottle and a plastic tube and “chase” the old fluid out with new. On ABS equipped bikes, can you simply do the same or am I going to have to buy some proper (read expensive) equipment? Guess that I would have to flush more fluid than normal through due to ABS pump or, is this not correct? Sorry if it’s a stupid question, just want to be sure. TIA.
Treat it the same as a conventional system, but yes, you’ll need to pump more fluid through. Providing you don’t take air in, then it should go well. It’s still beneficial to turn the rear caliper around so the bleed nipple is upper most. If you’re trying to get air out, several quick repeated pumps with the nipple left open, can help to push air out. If you do this, defo pay attention to the reservoir level. Air in at this time will be a pain in the arse.
