Brake Judder When Wet On St3

Discussion in 'Sport Touring' started by ciaran, Nov 9, 2018.

  1. Hello all,

Have started to get a judder on the front brakes on my ST3 but only when riding in the rain !!

In the dry the braking is fine .... the pads are a bit worn but still some life in them !

Any ideas what this could come from ? Planning on giving the calipers a good clean this weekend !

  2. Do what you are going to do but carefully check that the discs are true. On the calipers, I would strip right down and get the pistons out to clean and check. Whilst you have it apart, then I would replace the seals and dust covers.

  3. Could be contaminated discs, the wet causing a greater difference between the contaminated bits and uncontaminated areas.

A few pretty brutal stops from high speed can be enough to clean up discs, or a go over them with something like a scotchbrite pad.

Might as well service the brakes while you're there too.
