Break Pads Sticking

  1. Hi
front brembo breaks dont seem to releasing very well. you can hear pads touching dics when putting bike away in the garage, also can hear buzzing noise from front end when breaking . Any advice would be great

  2. if it's the noise i'm thinking of, the buzzing noise is totally normal on perforated discs. Front calipers may be partially sticking but again, rubbing and clunking sounds can be totally normal - you could keep an eye on how hot discs/calipers get after a run.

  3. As Chris said...........Normal..........

Pads don't actually have a release mechanism.......they only get pushed back off the disc by the merest run-out of the disc itself.....

The fact that yours are touching the disc IMO indicates that your discs are pretty damn true......and the buzzing noise is perfectly normal as the pads sail over the holes in the discs.

No doubt you also get a clunk if you pull the bike backwards with the front brake on slightly; then it does it again when the bike is pushed forward........just the pads moving in the calipers.

As Chris said, sometimes the caliper pistons can stick, then the issue would be far more noticeable with a binding front brake.......Take the bike for a short run and use the brakes quite hard several times, then work your way back home slowly and use very light braking.........When you get home, feel the disc and then feel it a minute later.........if it is bloody hot, then you have a problem.

  4. As above and if you can get the front wheel off the ground you can check to see how easily the wheel turns with the brakes off, there should be light resistance and the wheel should spin a little if all is OK.

  5. Could be the first stages of slightly sticking caliper pistons - might be worth giving the calipers a good clean. But then again, if the discs aren't getting hot when you're actually riding it's probably normal. The "buzzing" noise is perfectly normal on drilled discs...

  6. Thanks all
