Hi....I'm a recent purchaser of a 2004 Monster 620ie....both handlebar controls have the large diameter open pivot bolt going through each control....was this done to save weight or possibly to be used as an alternative mirror mounting point? (not a great idea though in a spill) ? Maybe originally these holes were plugged?
Probably to save cost as well as weight - less material used. I wouldn't even consider trying to fit mirrors in them! From a safety point of view.
