Broken Rod On Steering Damper Panigale 899

  1. So, I've not had the best day....I was pulling out of a car park only doing 1 mph when I slipped on some gravel :scream: and dropped the bike. When I say dropped, I actually managed to lay the bike down onto the left handle bar end and the good news is the only cosmetic damage is to the left bar end which is scratched. I have however broken the steering damper rod which has broken off where it connects to the right handlebar.

Can I just replace the inner rod or do i need to get a new complete damper? And could i have caused any other damage to the steering, it felt fine riding home...albeit with me crying all the way :sob:

  2. You can check whether or not you have bent the relevant lock-stop on the lower part of the tripple. If the bike runs straight and the handlebars are still straight with respect to the rest of the bike then it is probably ok. Don’t know about the damper.
