Bsb Superstock

Discussion in 'Racing & Bike Sport' started by Advikaz, Mar 15, 2021.

  1. Bsb regs now allowing for 1100’s which is interesting news.

but before Ducati fans get too excited, if you run an 1100, you will have to run the control motec ecu with the rider aids (tc etc) turned off.

I can’t really see anyone doing it. It’s not really worth loosing traction control and anti wheelie when you’re doing 15 lap races... on Pirelli’s....

  2. So the 1000 cc can still run tc then mate?

  3. Correct.

most stockers are on kit looms and ecu’s as well.

  4. Bet that gets quite well used racing at bsb level superstock

  5. Every riders different really. Some use a fair bit of ‘aids’ others don’t.

someone I know had rich coopers mapping put on his race bike and it had absolutely nothing in the way of anti wheelie haha. As he found out. I ‘think’ it then got replaced with McConnell’s, and that had more in the way of tc and a/w etc.

As said, some riders lean on the electronics and work with it. Others run very little. For me, I don’t really see it as ‘stock’. Yeah okay the motors are fairly stock, but they’re nearly all running kit factory looms and ecu’s, mapping with custom traction and anti wheelie, engine braking etc tables. Full systems and bell mouths.

Not sure if it’s just me... but I don’t think it’s very ‘stock’. It seems mad that you can change all of that but you have to run the stock and often shit master cylinders haha

  6. Thought they all have control ecu now from this year?

  7. No mate. Not in stock.

most bikes (1000’s) have whatever kit race offerings you can get. So bmw for example is the alpha kit. Suzuki is yoshi

    etc

  8. My misunderstanding then. I had an online exchange with Wilf who suggested they all will be

    IMHo they should run stock.

  9. I agree mate. I’d like to see everyone on totally stock (locked) ecu’s.

I’m not on Facebook anymore, and Wilf knows a hell of a lot more than me. But that’s my understanding anyway.

  10. Just had a quick read, and it's saying that you have to use the MSVR dash & ECU and they will control what aids are used and at what level, I don't think it's saying they will be off by default from what I can see, but can't find a bulletin on it. You might be more in tune with the behind the scenes stuff that a mere mortal like me though.

"As detailed in 5.2.7.2 in the case of the Superstock class, motorcycles over 1000cc up to 1100cc must be equipped with the MCRCB/MSVR specified ECU and dash. (See authorised parts list) MCRCB/MSVR will impose functionality and performance controls at their exclusive discretion. This may include; disablement of rider aids, rev limit, throttle position control. Full details of the motorcycle model and the MCRCB/MSVR prescribed technical interventions will be published by Bulletin"

Also saw that they have to be 4kgs heavier.

  11. good post mate thanks.

I’m under the impression that the aids have to be switched off. (Motec does have the function to run corner to corner electronics) which from what I’m hearing, they will be switched off.

    We shall see :)

  12. Going to be an interesting year. Lots of trials and testing it seems including the Supersport class with the 765 and V2.

  13. Bugger all testing either. Although the Calendar has been shifted back which may allow for more seat time for the guys in some shape or form.

it’s going to be like last year on trackdays I feel o_O

  14. I'm a bit gutted about the calendars moving around, we are at the test day in April for Trioptions, and then there isn't a race for absolutely ages. July is the first Tri-Options round, at the WSBK.

  15. I haven’t paid much attention to it. But have they then bunched them all up so you end up doing more than one meeting per month ?

That’s always fun. Pulling money out of your ass last minute haha

  16. No summer break essentially so many back to back weekends. Starts late but finishes similar time as normal.

I can see big benefits for those who are on same bike this year as last. Unless they change tyres again....!
