lol.... was speaking to them the other night regarding up grading to infinity so as to get bt sport and i asked how comes some on standard bt can get it and i cant. They told me that all those on standard will be losing it as its what they want....WTF i asked? yes they have done research she said and apparently all those that currently get bt sport on their old copper line for free (as per their original contract) would rather lose it and pay more to upgrade than suffer the occasional loss of reception. funny that bt didnt advertise the occasional lose of reception a few years back when selling this service
they are lying tricky fvks... they tried to sell me infinity with like 20 gig or big or something usage a month for 8 quid more a month than i currently pay sounds good i thought... then i remembered how they fvked me last year and thought why would the sell me this when unlimited gigys (or what ever) is 21 quid more? so i asked her how much gigy do i normaly use each month? "i cant tell you that sir" why not? "my system is down" ok how much per gigy if i go over? "i cant tell you that sir" why not? "thats another department" anyhu turns out on average i use 27 gigys a month and its £5.10 a gigy over the 20 so about another 36 quid on top of the 8 extra.. cunning fvks.. i would have been locked in for 18 months and had to pay to upgrade.......
unfortunately they are all the same. When they fvcted me last year as in miss sold me there product i went down the road of trading standards authority and what not but to no avail. I was amazed at the sheer amount of complaints about BT, sky and virgin. there are sites full of em, All valid but no one gets anywhere. these outfits are a law unto themselves and rely on the fact that we dont have the time or energy to take it further.. but what can ya do? if you want to watch the racing you gotta pay someone
Dodgy box, 120 quid for the year. For everything. Can't be doing being ripped off by sky or virgin anymore. Just need broadband and a dish. Next year will be cheaper cos I've already got the box now.
I had bt infinity 1 installed on the 30th January and still up until this day I have no where near the lowest estimate in Speed they quoted on their site. I've had 2 engineers out, 2 different hub 5's (type a and b) and still I'm barely getting double my old broadband speeds, let alone the 5x faster. Honestly I'm glad it's only a 12 months contract as the vast majority of their customer service is horrendously poor, the only ones any good are those out of Exeter. I'm sorry but bt are shite
i pay for bt sport through sky......£12 a month........ now cooking sky...........they over sell their BB allocations at a BT terminal then police the speed at max demand times so obviously everything slows down......which is shoot for live sport Sky blamed BT BT Blamed sky funnily enough no one appears to tell the truth so i did a bit of local research and Talk Talk were the best supplier, all my connections and lines remained the same now its guaranteed that fast i cant keep up......... but i still have to pay for BT sport.............
I had to move to BT when we relocated, we were with Sky and I'd have happily kept with them but on enquiring about our move Sky themselves said their BB speed was poor in the new area and that they used BT lines so BT would reduce the speed at peak times in favour of their own customers. So moved to BT begrudgingly and although I know BT standards of customer care are low I'm totally amazed that they still fail to reach it.
From my conversations last year with BT regarding the additional charge for Sport HD after one year which I resolved, I queried the charge for BT Sport. I was told that as long as I am within my minimum contract period then Sport is free. What this means is that if you sign up for an 18 month contract as I did, then at the end of 18 months if I haven't bothered to re-sign for a further period then I will be charged for Sport, even though I am still a paying BT customer. As long as I sign up for a new contract then Sport will be free. He told me that BT would notify me before my contract expires in February to discuss extending my contract. They wouldn't just roll it over and then start charging me for Sport. Well ,guess what. I'm now out of contract, BT haven't been in touch, and I haven't had a new bill yet but I bet when I do it will have a charge for Sport on there. I'm not on Infinity, just copper 6Mb connection.
I've just come off the phone from BT. I was correct, you will not be charged for BT Sport as long as you are in contract. As I suspected, my contract had come to an end in February and was just rolling over every month now. If I don't renew then I will be charged for BT Sport. They lied to me when they told me that they would contact me prior to the contract expiring. The service guy I just spoke to confirmed to me that they never notify you that you are about to come out of contract - it makes sense really as then you might be prompted in to switching suppliers. I'm actually happy with BT and had planned to stay with them anyway so was happy to renew. They no longer offer 18 month contracts, it's all 1 year now, so I've renewed for another year and won't be getting charged for Sport. I've made a note in my diary to call them in 11 months to renew contract again so that I don't get charged for Sport.
Glad you posted this. They were going to have me for this. I only activated it as it was free and was ok for the MotoGP but there's other places to watch that. Quick call. Cancelled. Done.
as i understand it sky rent say 10 places from bt at the exchange if they over sell to say 20 people rather than stopping at 10 then at times you will get a reduced speed......talk talk guarantee they do not oversell the exchange!
I was told in my conversation that is totally impossible to get bt sport through a copper line and only those in areas where the is no infinity get it at the min but all are being notified that it will no longer be available in the next few months.. They are a bunch of lying scum. Words can not express my hatred for them
We get our broadband over copper, but watch BT Sport via Sky. I cant see why the BT TV service wouldn't work over copper. We regularlry stream 2 Netflix channels plus Youtube stuff all at the same time and we only get 6Mbs.
It's all down to number of customers on that exchange. If Sky or TalkTalk or anybody else has enough customers to warrant putting their own equipment in the exchange then they it is more cost effective for them and they don't tend to oversubscribe their lines. If they don't have enough customers though then they have to rent BT's equipment and line bandwith. This costs them more money so they tend to oversubscribe it and use something called active traffic management at peak times. We used to be with Tiscali who used traffic management. We would see our 6Mbps speed drop to 1.5 at busy times. I started the switch to Sky and read their small print and found that they would also be using active traffic management as they had too few customers at the exchange. I cancelled with them and switched to BT as they have a policy of not using traffic management and have been great with us, we always get 6-7Mbps. I find BT to be no better or worse than the other providers. The reality is that the sales people are just that. They are there to sell. In my experience they have very little understanding of the product that they are selling. My main problem is with Openreach. All my dealings with them have been horrendous. They really are an awful company to deal with.
