Hello, Ok, so I attempted to bleed my clutch which should not have been such a challenge as it was on my hyper 796 2011. I can't seem to get any pressure build up from the master cylinder to bleed it and the level of fluid does not seem to be going down in the reservoir. I gave it a few squeezes to build the pressure in the line, opened the nipple slightly got some fluid, closed the nipple, squeezed again and so on and I was getting hardly no fluid passing through. I then took off the pipe attached to the master cylinder and put my thumb over the master cylinder and there seemed to be minimal pressure building up from every squeeze. I took off the slave with the rod which goes into the engine and cleaned it regreased it and put it back together, I then got a bit of pressure so started over, until i closed the nipple and it was back to floppy clutch. This has left me stumped, has anyone got any ideas? Thanks in advance
If you open the nipple and close it having released the lever, all you are doing is sucking air back into the system. The best was is squeeze the lever slowly, ease the nipple open and close it while you are still squeezing the lever, ie before the lever stops moving. If there is already air in the system, (which it seems like there is) you won't get any real pressure to be able to bleed it.
You don't really generate pressure like a pump you just transfer fluid, yes the pressure builds but when you release the lever the pressure drops back. +1 on what Arquebus said. Bit of clear tubing over the bleed nipple feeding into a small container, tubing shaped like an inverted U at the nipple so as their is always fluid over the nipple top. Squeeze lever gently and maintaining lever pressure open the bleed nipple Fluid flows out bleed nipple As you approach end of stroke, nip bleed nipple back up. Release lever As long as their is fluid in the tube above the bleed nipple top, then air cannot enter & make sure the reservoir has fluid in it at all times Then repeat about a Gazillion times until air is out the system John
Alternatively, find a syringe of suitable capacity, and fill the system from the bleed nipple (take the top of the reservoir and wrap plenty of rags around it first).
I use a syringe and also a non return bleed pipe which helps. It's just a rubber pipe with a sit in it but it works, did my brakes with it yesterday no problem. Worth a look on eBay for the pipe, here's the one I use and under £2. SOLO BRAKE / CLUTCH BLEEDER AUTOMATIC BLEED PIPE / TUBE | eBay
