So, my first proper shake down ride for the Radical Pantah was today. A nice blast down to Beachy Head with some of the other Kent DOC guys. About 60 miles in I noticed the fairing was shaking about more than it should. Stopped in a lay-by to see the frame has fractured. It's part of the stock frame I butchered to make my own support, and obviously isn't up to the torsional stress I've now put through it! Playing safe i turned back for home and stopped at the nearest garage to see if they had some straps, with no luck. However, what was lucky was a 999 at the pumps! The owner, Tom, was local and gave me directions to the nearest Halfords. He said he looks in here so cheers mate if you see this! So off I went, got a Jubilee clip, some straps, and a cheap tool kit and bodged away! It lasted all the way home and I even had a little dice with a Buell Funny thing is I actually enjoyed having to do a roadside repair! It takes me back to bodging clutch cables in the South of France and other old adventures!
Hi Nick the carby SS fairing bracket is prone to cracking just there mate easy to sleeve and make a better repair that said a bespoke alloy one would look the 'nuts' on there mate:wink:
It would Steve, but I've elongated mine so the clocks sit about 20mm further forward, and I've adapted the upper fairing btackets to suit the new one. If I need an alloy one you'll be my first call ;-)
Well given those x rays at least it was not your John Thomas!!! In all seriousness hope you get sorted
