1200 Buying Advice.

  1. So ive decided to get something more comfy than the VFR, R1200GS is a bit Ewan McGregor, if you know what I mean so I'd decided to get a Tiger 1200. Then I saw the Multistrada 1200 13 plate in the local CMC and loved it. Looks sporty, feels comfy, going for a test ride this week.
Cant decide which one to get I want the S for the toys, fancy a centre stand but not a deal breaker and would like the luggage. I was thinking a 2013 ish 1200S or 1200S Pikes Peak.
Any advice please? Also anything secial to look out for other than the Desmo service being done?
Budget up to £8k for a fully loaded minter?

  2. Hi been thinking of selling mine for a while. Thinking of something a bit smaller. Not sure where you are. Am in New milton down south. If you are interested let me know. Cheers

  3. I doubt 8K will buy you a Pikes Peak, not from a dealer, and definitely not a fully loaded minter. Even the early PP's hold money very well. The 2015 DVT on comes with centre stand and they are way better equipped than the pre DVT bikes. Generally they would have come with luggage too. Plus cruise, better dashboard, less peaky motor, easier to ride in town and more grunt.

  4. If you want one with luggage then it should have the touring pack so should have a centre stand anyway. If you shop around you should get what you want for your budget (look for none Ducati dealers selling trade-ins, will be cheaper than buying from Ducati) I bought my 1200s touring 2013 model with full history, few extras, 10k miles for £6600, that was Dec 19 from a Honda dealer near me.
13-14 will be a twin spark model which is apparently a little smoother than the previous models, the later DVT model will be smoother still, restyled and a fancy dash,
I would expect you could get a DVT for your budget, like you said, if it’s near the 18k miles mark make sure the desmo service has been done or price accordingly to get it done. Belts should be replaced every 5yrs too.

  5. OMG, Im in Staffs so probably a jit far. What you got?

  6. Oh yeah that’s aways . Have twin spark 17000mls luggage top box. Have one piece of advice that transformed the bike for me. 14 tooth front sprocket. Just makes bumbling along at lower speed limits so much easier makes it nice to ride at these lower speeds . Before it was right between gears . Good luck finding a good un!
