That's sad to hear. Met him and Dave Peacock many times in the early nineties when one or both of them would come into the pub where I worked, both very down to earth people who would often stay behind after closing and play for an hour or two on piano, banjo or guitar just for the fun and pleasure of playing, very rarely if ever their own songs but mostly much older trad jazz which they both enjoyed. Very sad to see him go at such a relatively young age.
I think truly underestimated....seen them play with EC and it was unbelievable...rocked the house down....all playing had huge grins as they knew they were playing with real talent ......RIP big fella.

Remember seeing them as a kid with my Dad and Uncles, cousins etc in some East London pub one Sunday, I can’t say I appreciated them at all then but remember how packed the pub was.. We were far too busy getting up to something, what I can’t remember, but the shandy and crisps were great .. x
