Bye Bye Panigale, Hello Sfv4s

  1. That’s the R gone. Absolutely fabulous bike, but not suited for my level of talent or use. Also didn’t hold value like I’d hoped, as a legacy for my daughter/granddaughter!
Replaced by a ‘20 V4S with full Akrapovic, which will need running-in!
Is the later version mainly a software upgrade? i.e. might there be a download from Ducati to give the Wet riding mode etc, or does it rely on hardware changes?

  3. Congratulations. Are you expecting the SF to hold value or have you binned that idea altogether?

  4. All Streetfighters (v4's anyway) have the wet riding modes, there were some engine mapping characteristic changes in the 2021+ versions, e.g. more power in the mid range and less top end, but coming off the V4R that won't bother you. Later models, (I think the 22 onwards) had some swing arm pivot position changes... then the 23 onwards got rid of all the ingear mapping I think, so you get full fat V4 Panigale power all through every gear... I suspect this needs a sports mode+ to be activated. There were cosmetic changes etc too. Obviously. I think that's it

  5. Congratz, enjoy

  7. Lol a good move imho.

  8. Well, first ride done. A little tootle to check that it works. Doubled its milage!
    First impressions:
Despite its nakedness, air blast not an issue (not as much as the Hypermotard is, and that has a flyscreen)
Rather ‘shunty’ below 4000 so with the running-in recommendation of 6K, that doesn’t leave much to play with. Still *demolishes* overtakes.
    Brakes are monstrous.
    Seat found quite acceptable.
Mirrors may need stalk risers, as they only show elbows, rather á la Panigale.
Fuel consumption is eyebrow-raising. Despite the ‘tootling’, only 38-ish mpg.
Quickshifter even more silky smooth than the Panigale, although very sensitive to touch, until I learnt where to place my feet.
Clutch not as ‘bitey’ although that may be me learning its bite point.
There’s no “Wet” riding mode Serjames . That came with the ‘23 updated model, although I still wonder whether it might just be a software update…
All told, glad to have it. Now to add trinkets (all in the best of taste, naturally). The db killers are already in (mostly-they omitted to fit the LHS cone) but I have a pair from Pipewerx on order.
I want to fit my Vantrue dashcam system, but am wondering whether there’s room. Down inside the side fairings?

  9. The early Panigale V4 handbooks had a misprint, the rpm limit during the first 620 miles was actually 9000rm, not the 5500rpm printed in the handbook. I note with the V4SF, from 2023, the run-in rpm is increased to 7000rpm, the same as my Grandtourismo V4 Pikes Peak. I’d talk to your dealer. Andy

  10. @ibgarrow ... I need to go and check mine now... Ah Sorry - It's Street Sport and Race... (i think the naming is a little silly) as it means the same thing I think.

Easy / normal-fast / nutter with no ABS basically

  11. I had horrendous problems with the QS at first... My natural shape/position meant on hard acceleration i was putting pressure under the leaver so it used to cut ignition on me all the time, chunking me over the bars forward... I moved to Race-shift and much prefer that - with no miss-shifts at all since the change...

  12. Shame they couldn’t fit that on the dash!

  13. I’m running around 6K/75mph with forays into 7-8 for the initial period.

  14. The thing is it's totally configuable ( on my 21 anyway) so if you want to soften street even more, you can, and technically apart from turning off ABS I think you can apply all the race settings to the Sports setting too if you want.. I tend to run Full ABS, but slightly less of all the other electronic aids. Very rarely get any lights flashing at me, so obviously not pushing it anywhere near the limit and it's already Totally-Unsociably-Fast on the back roads...

  15. Agreed. I’ll probably make Street my Wet mode.

  16. Pictures???

  17. Sorry, was b** cold, and my favourite location was being visited.
Once it comes out again, I’ll show it off (incl. bin)

  18. Look forward!

  19. Nice! I just bought a 2021 SFV4S and cant wait. I'm amazed there is no wet mode. This was never mentioned in any of the early reviews I watched from BikeWorld, MCN and 44T. Look forward to seeing your pictures.

  20. Got out at last! Finally broke the 100-miles on the odometer…then it rained *again* but at least I got a picture.
