  1. Bit of help maybe....?

Was fitting some heated grips to the hyper today.....got them fitted...yey...did a nice job of it....yey....

Dropped a screw in the fuel tank....boooo....main reson being that i have quite extensive nerve damage in my right hand so only have about 30% feeling so fumbled the said screw and in it went....shitter....

Sooooo....havent started the bike and while id rather it out than in does it present a problem? Ie the fuel filter is in there plus its injected....ii was planning to run the fuel down and then take the pump out of the bottom then try and get it that way....

By the way....i highly recommend oxford heated grips....very good....

  2. what about a long magnet on a stick you can get them retractable ones from halfrauds

  3. why would you have the fuel tank lid open or off whilst fitting grips....

  4. As Andy says, but what we're you doing with the fuel cap of while fitting heated grips?

  5. Yeah....tried a magnetty thing....couldnt get anything out....i wanted to run the wiring as descretly as possible....on the hyper you have to take the side panels off and to take those off the top cover has to come off and first of all the filler cap.....

  6. usually after taking all the panels off i put the cap back on just in case.....but this time my mate came round....started chatting.....forgot....

Just to reiterate....to get the side fairing off....

    Filler cap off
    underneath there...two bolts...top cover off
which then uncovers the allen bolts for the sidepanels
    then those come off
which then exposes the main loom that runs along the tank....where i needed to run my cable...

  7. Long tube suck the petrol out turn it upside down and give it a shake

No idea about the screw though

  9. Can't see it doing any harm, the screw that is.

  10. Yeah..i didnt think so either...one of those jobs where if im in the mood ill do it but thought if i went down the route of removing the fuel pump then id introduce more issues...ie resealing the fuel pump...

  11. Apparently its a major ballache getting the tank off....completely...

  16. A screw in the petrol tank (ooer!) won't do any harm, unless it's watch case screw or similar then it's far too big to get into the pump/filter.

Just fit a new screw and deal with it the next time the tank's off for filter change etc.

  17. Its quite small....about 6mm long by about 3mm wide....4mm or so at the head...self tapper

  18. If it's anything like my old 900Ssie the fuel pump will draw in via a fine mesh screen which would not even let a watch screw through.

  19. yeah...what i thought....gonn check the manual tomorrow....cheers.

  20. Modern bikes will likely have finer filtration than older models, that said; 'self tapper' - WTF is a self-tapping screw doing on a bike, what next? rawlplugs...
