I have just completed a service of my 1198 & wanted to reset the service interval, so I looked into using tuneecu (android); I have used the PC version on my Triumph so have a limited understanding of its functions. 2 questions. 1. I connect to the bike using cables; this works perfectly & allows most of the functions to operate (inc service interval reset). When I start the engine, connection to the bike is always lost; when I select connect, the tablet attempts to connect via Bluetooth (which I don't have). I have read that the connection is lost due to volt drop in the battery from starting, so I connected the lead to a spare, fully charged battery instead; the connection is still lost when the bike starts. I have also started the bike before connecting the leads to the tablet, but again, it only wants to connect via Bluetooth if the engine is running. Has anybody been able to start the bike, whilst connected using cables, without the software disconnecting from the bike ecu? 2. Whilst tinkering (I know I have to be careful but bike specific instructions are limited), I saw an option for Reset Adaptation; I am familiar with this function & what it is used for (on my Triumph). I selected it & pressed run; which it seemed to accept although no further instructions were given. I treated the bike like the Triumph & started it (connection with tuneecu lost as usual). I left the bike running, without touching the throttle for approx 15 mins. Then, I could detect a distinct change is engine tone (better I think) & the revs increased to around 1700. I assumed it had completed adapting & applied some throttle, the revs were hanging & slow to drop. Obviously, complete panic for a few seconds! I was wondering if the bike had developed a vacuum leak; it was running quite hot after the 15 mins (up to 106 - fans kicking in accordingly) & I have had the airbox off for a valve check etc. Then it occurred to me that on the Triumph, the reset adaptation ends with the TPS light turning green. The android version doesn't have this light, but it does have the TPS reset option, which I selected & ran. I then started the bike again (connection lost again); its revs were back to 1500 - 1550 & they returned normally after blipping the throttle. Is it normal for the engine character to alter following reset adaptation & is it correct that the TPS reset should follows this process? I'm hoping yes, otherwise I may have fcuked up somewhere. Sorry this is a bit long :tonguewink:
