Can you identify this bike/rider/year?

I'm not quite old enough to get the year, so it's going to be the seventies I would of thought. The rider is Phil Read

 

So, with a little bit of help from Google it's a 77/78 Honda CB750 Formula1 machine

 

I haven't a clue ,other than Phil Read because of the chequered helmet

 

I've met Phil Read. Was tooling around on my old ZXR750 one day and overtook an ST1100, and the bastard gave chase. For ten miles he was glued to my arse, til I pulled into my favourite boozer, and he followed me in. When he took his lid off I realised why I couldn't shake him off...

 

I've seen him a few times at Brands when he has turned up in the paddock to watch the races, he must be over 70 now, when was this?

Did I tell you about the time I bumped into Lennox Lewis in Stratford? He's a big old lump

 

If I was Fig, I wouldn't boast about being beaten about the ring by Lennox :wink:

 

He put his name to road going 'replicas' of this bike, now starting to increase in value due to the connection. Believe 150 were made.
