Cannot split clutch casing

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Noods, Feb 3, 2014.

  1. Could anyone please advise on how to split the clutch side casing without damaging it. It's a 796 by the way with a wet slipper clutch... All bolts removed having double checked but having no luck separating from the crankcase..

    Thanks..

  2. I assume this pic is before you removed the bolts? The casing is held in place with the bolts and threebond gasket sealant, you need a rubber mallet or equivalent and give the casing a good few whacks to break the sealant.

Youll need to to remove the sealant from the clutch and crank cases once removed and reapply when ready to refit.

  3. + Tap around the casing with a rubber mallet.

  4. A good rubber covered deadblow hammer is likely to be more effective. Three bond sets quite hard so a rubber mallet might prove too soft.

  5. Ha... You guys don't miss much... Yes pic was before bolts all removed... Lol..

Thank you all.. off to get a rubber hammer as we speak..
