  1. We are all bored aren’t we?

I’m fairly busy with my ‘real job’. But in my spare time I’m a race/motorsport coach/instructor. Last week I did a bit of FWD with our very own @Monners utilising a friend of mines company Apex Track Cars to help him get his mojo back after a big off in Jerez

anyway, some pictures.... because we are all bored.

absolutely zero reason for the post. :yum

  3. He (and I quote) ..... enjoyed it!

  4. So much sexiness in one little car right there. Its the first time I've drove a GayWD car in anger and dare I say it, it was massive fun. I could actually get into doing it regularly. I was shaking with adrenalin from being nervous to get on track again so it was a great way to get rid of the heeby jeebies.

Big thanks to @Advikaz for the instruction and opportunity and Apex Track Hire for the use of the car.

  5. Was your Jerez off on 2 wheels or 4?

Asking because I smashed myself and a bike up at Brands in, IIRC 2015. Then with the loss of confidence (it happened right at the end of the season so I couldn’t do the “get straight back on the horse” thing) and then due to a change in my working life/logistics it took me til last year to get back on track again but I did CSS and a couple of track days on two wheels

  7. Great post! I'm old enough to regale stories with my Renault 5 GT Turbo back in the day. Probably the most fun car I've ever owned. FWD rack and pinion steering. You could so feel the road through the steering wheel and knew exactly when when grip was letting go. Brilliant fun!

Where did @Monners come off at Jerez? Some hairy/exciting sections there! Hope he's on the mend??

  8. But it can sometimes turn out good. My mate was always a bit quicker than me wherever we went. Not much, just a bit. Enough to always have the bragging rights at the crowded post track day bar. . . . . Then we did Croft one day and he had quite a big high side through the chicane section and bust himself up a bit. Fast forward to Almeria a couple of months later after his arm/wrist was out the plaster. I sensed straight away after the outlap he was off the pace. I smelt blood. I attacked. I bitch slapped that motherfucker for 4 days solid and ripped the piss relentlessly. I even took him round the outside at turn one. Fuck, I enjoyed that gig

  10. Just looked it up. Formerly Dry Sac. What a great name for a corner! I found it a bugger getting my braking right going in there....

  11. Dry Sac :joy::joy::joy::joy:

  13. Quick interruption to the dry sac banter.....

Loved my 5Gt turbo. Not quite as modded as Ali G’s mind you.

Be great to own an original one now.

@Mary Hinge - any pics? R5 that is - not yer dry sac!

  15. Really good little cars. The only observation I have on it for 'thorough' track work is that the diff struggles a bit.

It is a very capable little car!

  16. Is that a genuine gp Mini?

  17. Certainly is mate

  18. Bet that’s a beast, my Coop at claimed 170 bhp is great but that must be a whole other level.:upyeah:

  19. They're seriously fun little cars.

If it was mine i'd put a decent diff in, quaife jobby or similar and yoink the abs out.

It would knock a few seconds off the laptime easy and be more driveable. They really don't need a lot.

I was doing 57's at Brands in this one stock. Pretty quick for a hatch

  20. My Coop is standard apart from coil overs lowered 2 inches, my lad loves it when I find a road to give it the ‘berries’ :D
