Hi. Looking to change out the above black plastic items with CF replacements. I've found a couple of companies that do the key scratch guard / front tank pad as it seems to be called, but struggling to find anyone selling the replacement ignition surround itself, let alone anyone selling both (to get 'em to match) Anyone know who I should be trying - typically, I'm sure I did find the ignition surround previously, didn't buy it and now can't find it again!! Any help appreciated. Cheers, Andrew.
Not sure on your model but I know on the 1098 the CF was intended to be fit over the original plastic part. This was because the antennae for the immobiliser was fixed to the original plastic part. My uncle did a swap and didn't notice his antennae was now dangling. Queue intermittent immobiliser problems as it wasn't near enough to the key.
Yes the original cover is replaced with the carbon part so you need to move the immobilizer antenna from the old part to the new one. Not hard at all, took 5 minutes to remove and another 3 minutes to glue on the new cover with some 3M tape. Works fine.
