I’ve bought a fullsix carbon heat shield for my Streetfighter V2. The shield comes with a form of heat protection film already applied but I’m thinking maybe buying the original Ducati heat protection film and fitting it, as like 2 layers of heat protection? Also, do you fit the carbon shield over the original steel? Some posts say you do, some say you don’t. The carbon shield does seem to fit over the steel part of the original plastic shield. Any suggestions or advice is appreciated.
I have a Fullsix carbon belly on my 1260 MTS, it also came with heat tape on the inside, I didn't apply more but I did notice it was only a single layer. With that though, it's sat up against the engine and has been on the bike for a long while now and I've had zero issues with discolouration, flaking or anything of the sort. So I would say it's likely to replace the existing part and won't need additional heat prevention. One note... Do NOT get brake fluid on the carbon parts, it's their cryptonite and will quickly swell up if the carbon fibre absorbs any.
