Just been going through boxes of bits that came with the 600 engine and frame that i have for a project. Can some body tell or explain why my carbs have braided lines, like brake lines bolted to the bottom of the float chamber, there quit a length and have union at other end to be bolted in to something, there is nothing like this in my workshop manual of any description and i have never seen this before. Thanks for any info/help.
You should find a black block in the main oil line running to the oil cooler.........the black block has a tap in it...........Heaters off (summer) it should point in line with the main hose...........Heaters on (Winter) it should turn and point across the main oil line (IE at right angles to the line). Some people say the heaters are crap, some don't.......mine seem to work OK.
Thank you for info. observably for carb icing in winter. Is this on all air/oil cooled models? I presume when building my project I'll have to be looking to get the's parts for it to run properly, or can it be done away with. I don't remember the 900ss desmo having this in the early 80's just carbs with ticklers, oh my fading memory, where has my youth gone. thanks again
They are not necessarily on all SS carbed models..........the early ones didn't have them and most people remove them anyway. I could remove mine but as they seem to work I can't be bothered to do it despite having spare blank float bowls.
