Not sure whether its correct or not been told King Carl is going to be at Bike Stop in Stevenage soon on a personell appearance.
I'm a builder not an English teacher:wink:. If he does make an appearance down their will say hi for you:smile:
Yes I should have made myself clearer, I meant entertaining on a bike, although he was quite a nice bloke when I met him and he even sent me a birthday card. Steve
yep 4 times WSB champ tell you something about his talent, awesome! the man? well went off him after i read his autobiography sadly
i read his book its all about how good he was or how it was everybody elses fault if he did not win ,after a few chapters all i got from it was WAA WAA WAA WAA WAA WAA Moan Gripe :frown:
Phil Read won 8 World titles and he is not best thought of by his peers and many others. Its about how you portray yourself to the masses. Mr Fogarty was not the best at it, even on TV now it seems a chore for him to answer any question. Barry Sheene was one of the best for public charisma, but a few may think he was a **** also. JMHO
Barry Sheene was very likable with good looks and bit of a charmer and did not big himself up , mr fogarty has none of those qulitys , i was offerd a foggy rep once but did not go for it as it was over priced and it had his name on it
Aware he was slightly up his own arse but will most prob pass by......Take it wont be seeing to many people off of here if Bike Stop is in your area. Will confirm if its a def he's gonna be their as i was only told about it.
Being an Aussie I've found it difficult to like Fogarty - especially with Corser etc and what the Foghorn would say in the press. I remember him mouthing off about how he'd whip Doohan's butt ... I've met him now. When I was in Wales in '10 I went along to the Whitham Fogarty Givin it Gas tour and, I'm changing my mind. I was lucky enough to get chatting to both of them at the bar and asked them a few questions so when they passed the mic around I asked who Foggy thought would was the most naturally talented rider ever - regardless of series etc. It was a loaded question, even before I asked it offline, but he'd already told me what he thought at the bar before but it was great to hear. He gave very fulsome praise to Anthony Gobert. The Go Show is the most talented rider Foggy has ever seen and to see him give wraps like that to Gobert changed my opinion of him.
Hi all I can confirm king Carl will be at Bikestop because i'm staff, and he's there on my birthday no less. 27/28 April. We also have Ian Hutchinson and Nick Jefferies in on the 28 march. next thursday if anyone is interested. Paul
Foggy changed big style after the death of His best mate from cancer a few years ago. TP Go Show was awesome, big shame he went off the rails with drugs etc.
Nothing to do with championships but when a young 14 yr old meets his idol at brands and asks for his autograph to which he replays I'm to busy and gives him that foggy stare then pushes him out the way he's a wanker in my book even his manager apologised ruined the whole weekend for him what a Tosser also he had the best bikes
I'm glad to see Carl's mellowed - he was a fierce competitor and I've always respected him for that. The Go Show ... what can you say. He's from my home town and I remember reading in our local rag that he was in court for shoplifting, only a few years ago. His brothers are quick too, they're over in AMA. I thought Alex was going to make it to WSB but maybe the American cash that so lured Mladin was too much. Mladin, now what I would give to have seen him on a factory 500 for a full season with no distractions..
"aint no bert like a gobert" the great WSB years corser, haga, slight, chili, whitham, foggy, edwards, gobert, just thinking about it makes me smile
