Hi guys, I’ve only had my 1199 for a month and not had chance to ride it properly yet (just a quick 5 minute test ride). It already feels quite wheelie prone on current STANDARD sprocket sizes 15/39. On Jap 4’s I usually go -1F +2R to get better acceleration (I mean, who actually uses top speed and for how long and how often ) I’m about to change them for new ones, but wondered if you guys that ride them regularly (on road) would recommend a different sprocket combo for better drive or accel, or gear it down to control the nose coming up, or just stick with the standard gearing? Thanks in advance for the benefit of your wisdom
Hi and thanks, I haven’t ridden it enough, not a V-twin either, just a 10 minute test ride so not enough to notice the pros and cons of the delivery or rideability of this bike, I haven’t lived with it so I was hoping for ‘real world’ feedback from our Panigale brethren. Like I said, I’ve re-geared loads of Jap 4’s to great effect so I understand the effect of gearing up or down, some models really benefit but with the 1199 being notoriously torquey/grunty/wheelie prone I thought our ‘wizards’ would know the go-to combination. I’m guessing most people just use standard gearing 15/39 on the roads. Cheers anyway
