Changed Oil/filter & Now 'lo' Oil Temp ?

  1. Changed my oil and filter on Saturday using Ducati Filter and Motul 300V 15/50 on my Sport 1000 DS.

Went out yesterday and the temp gauge continues to flash Lo even after 40 miles.

When I change the display showing the clock and back again it shows a normal temp of about 93 degrees then flashes back to Lo.

Anything I could have done or just coincidence the display is playing up ?

  2. Don't think its anything you've done that I'm aware of.

I am running 10/40 300V and going to switch to 15/50 next year for a couple of reasons.
The temp is noticeably lower, running a heavier grade will if anything push the temp a little higher
Missed a few shifts since running 300V. That could be coincidence but I'll wait and see, again a heavier grade can only help

  3. had this on the fugly, dirty connection at temp sensor,

  4. And the temperature sensor is on the end of the oil strainer cover which you would have removed when doing the oil change.

  5. I only changed the oil filter from the sump not the pick up filter from the side..

  6. You should really remove and clean the oil screen too. Particles on it can be an early warning of mechanical problems. Either way, the sensor connection is most likely the culprit.

  7. Last couple of rides and the temp gauge has been fine. After I changed the oil I realised I'd over filled slightly so drained a bit out. Maybe just coincidence !
