Changing Speedometer In 1098

  1. I had a broken speedometer in my 1098. Got a new one and installed it, but the immobilizer didn't like it. Do you guys know how to work around this?

  2. I think the dash, ecu and key have all got to be the same, don't think you can change one without the other. I may be wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me if I am.

  3. If it's a brand new one I'm sure there is a one-off procedure for coding it to the keys. If it's 2nd hand you are stuck with either getting the ECU re-flashed to remove the immobiliser function or find somewhere that can re-code the dash to your keys. I don't know if that can be done for the 1098.

  4. If it's a new dash you need the codecard to programme it to the key chips. If it's a second hand dash you need the original code card to programme new keys or an original chipped key. There are no immo issues with the ecu as they are uncoded. There are companies that can recover this info but it is not cheap.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  5. I must get up to date on the later dash/ECU set up

  6. You're better off looking for a complete lock and dash set.
