748 Check List Of Service Procedures

Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by RC1, Aug 19, 2016.

  1. Taking the banana to Geoff Baines tomorrow. Rather than copying the warranty booklet does anyone have a checklist of the scheduled maintenance options for the 10k and 20k services?

  2. Some stuff is mileage, some is age. Valves are every 6k mls and belts 2 years.

I'd say it depends on what you knows been done, what your prepared to do yourself and how much money you have burning a hole in your pocket.

  3. I'm def down for belts and clearances fluids don't need doing but if you're pulling the cams you'd need to drop the oil anyway. Fuel filter I expect has never been changed given mileage. pads and discs are all ok. I cannot imagine the bikes perfectly set up from a suspension and fuelling perspective so may need some time there.

New m7 rr on the front

I guess oil wise it's 15 50 motul 7100 based on received wisdom right?

I'm happy to do all the routine stuff myself but I think it would be sensible to get a pro to cast his eye over it and I then have a baseline to work from for the routine and preventative stuff

  4. That's what I did with my 0 history 996 and Geoff did a sterling job.

He will probably put in Rock Oil 15w50.

  5. Ooh rock oil vs motul...

I guess there's a divide on that one amongst the cognoscenti? Do I need to take a view?

  6. No, both are top notch. Don't go setting everyone off!!!!!

  7. If you are concerned specify the oil as you are the customer. Personally I would go for Motul, and others may disagree.

You may have seen Nellys post on this subject recently.

I know Neil Spalding personally and I know he is a great believer in Rock oil, which I have not used, but I don't doubt his experience or wisdom. But I go for what works for me and that is Motul.

Go with your heat, recommendation or what the "masses" believe, either way you arer not likely to go too far wrong.

It's all a matter of personal taste and experience, people like what they like. What takes your fancy?

  8. I have used both and only now use Motul because I pay someone else to do what I could do but can't be arsed to do :D. Rock Oil is a top class product though. Andy
