Chris Packham has upset the Countryside Alliance by saying we have too many sheep in upland areas and we should be "rewilding" areas like the Lake District, Wales and Scotland by reintroducing "wild" animals such as Lynx, Beaver etc, Tim Farron says we need more sheep. Anyone who has experienced the Great Outdoors in Spring and witnessed the wild, gambolling frolicking of lambs, which have been filled with a simple joy of being alive cannot help but be instantly moved by a profound and powerful hunger for lamb chops. Let's not forget English landlords infamously cleared the Scottish highlands specifically to make space to breed sheep therefore they are not native. Countryside Alliance clearly don't know their history and are trying to justify keeping something that was created by man. Andy
TBF,, it was not only the english landlords who did this,, there were plenty of our own who willingly enforced the " clearances "
I like the idea of "rewilding". Chris Packham is a bit "off the wall" but that is OK by me. We live in a green desert, it doesn't have to be like that, particularly in our upland areas.
Sadly all races have suck arses who will do anything to get on. That is a generalism and not intended to name names. Andy
