Yes, only hit the news when an ex copper got stung and criticised his ex employer for doing cock all about it despite them allegedly knowing about the gang since January. Andy
Yep - the police'll do fuck all about most stuff until one of their own gets stung. Where i work (on a trading estate) on the other side of the road (the other trading estate) theres a nick. Everyone parks their cars on the grass/pavements as the council restricted the amount of parking spaces that could be made per building (in itself a monumentally dumb move) which in turn overcrowds all the surrounding roads...anyway. Someone's car gets the front ripped off by a lorry (we have the Sainbury's loading bays/distribution points on the same estate) and when it was one of theirs they were out checking all the cctv footage in all of the buildings that had cameras in the area (they came to visit us). My mate gets 3 bikes stolen from his garage 20k's worth just over and they dont even turn up. But i think this is now common for most people....
There really is no hope. Even the police have no confidence in themselves and eBay couldn't give a shit as long as they collect the selling fees. I've reported a good few Ducati scams to eBay. Different accounts (obviously hijacked) but they all seem to follow the same format , ridiculously low priced, contact only by the email provided. Nothing happens, eventually eBay removes it but the scammers simply relist it again using someone else's account.
Love the quote about cash on collection and not thru the usual protected eBay payment schemes. Like you'd pay 17k thru PayPal lol
