clutch assy

  1. just a quickie. Was assembling my bike this eve, and put pushrod onto pressure plate and on assy, there was a gap that didnt look like the plate was seating. looking through my 999rs manual, it states not to try and push the rod in from the clutch side, but from the alternator side or risk knackering the seal. Am i missing something??

  2. You can't push it if from the n/s of the bike, as the rods bigger on the clutch side.
Was there a gap after you did the pressure plate springs up?
how did the flywheel lightening go?

  3. Hi FE. yes, enough to let the plate be able to fall off the basket. i have just bought a 2001 pushrod, which is bigger, but imagine that is on the slave side.? Also yes i had done up the springs.

  4. thinking about it. I bet i didnt seat the pushro in the pressure plate!!! durrrrrr.!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ps didnt get flywheel as ill get it later and couldnt be arsed after buying tool. will lightened get one with holes

  5. Try doing the plate up without the rod fitted and see if it fits correctly, so you can eliminate any probs with the clutch assy.
Are you fitting all the parts that came off the clutch originally, have you added a different plate, spacers etc?

  6. the bearing in the plate will push up to the shoulder on the rod.

  7. yeah, just pushed it in with no oil, and it didnt seat when doing up springs. Will do it tomorrow with a little engine oil and a rubber mallet. just reading the 996 manual as we speak. Good job really, as i dint know to apply sealant to bottom nut of water pump assy. is this threebond or something else. I have hylomar and instant gasket also?

  8. no, all the rest apart from the pushrod are the same. I thinik that it may have not been seated properly. pushrod souldnt make a dirrerence 2001 on a 1999 bike. By the way mine has a 3 phase alt, so should be a later crossover.

  9. Tried it without the pushrods in and rotated it on the basket and bong your uncle. Slotted in. Put bike back together and went for a rip.....,,nice.!! Going to Aberystwyth tomorrow. Praise The Lord. Back in the work of the ducatisti.
