Clutch Cover Compatibility

  1. I have recently purchased a 1999 996, currently, it has an awful looking open clutch cover, I am looking at swapping it for an original stock cover

The part number for the 996 cover is 24310251AC

I have found one on the bay of fleas, with the part number 24310252AD, ad says 749/999/1098

What is the difference? And, more importantly, will it fit the 996?

    Many thanks

  2. If it looks like a dry clutch cover, it will fit.

Send a pic if you can for confirmation.

  5. You will need to fit the rubber gasket under the standard cover. Andy

  6. Not looked closely at the one on the bike yet, but, from your comment, I take it, the open covers don't have the gasket?

  7. Some open clutch covers, stand off enough to clear the pressure plate. IME, the standard full cover doesn't. The gasket should still be readily available and shouldn't cost an arm and a leg. Andy

  8. One can put a couple of washers between cover and case to provide clearance.
Also, get benefit of slightly more cooling air through clutch.

  9. Same part number, different last letter implies it’s the same part but brought into the system from a different supplier.

All dry clutch bikes 748/916/996/998/749/999/848/1098/1198 use the same clutch housing and clutch cover. Same in as much as the bolts will line up and it will fit :upyeah:
