    thanks neil.

  2. They all seem to go like that , I’ve heard it’s because of the rubber seals breaking down

  3. Mine does it all the time if you look where the line runs it is right on the engine casing so I think the heat doesn’t help!

  4. Normal, so no need to worry. I don't know why this happens but the difference between the brakes, is engine heat and the amount of travel and use of the clutch lever.

  5. My Monster is about 13 years old and it has always done this. If the seals are breaking down then they are doing it very slowly!

  6. All my Ducatis with hydraulic clutches have done this. I used to think it was contaminant from the seals because over the winter while the bike was laid up the black would precipitate to the bottom of the reservoir leaving clear(ish) fluid. I'd change the fluid anyway, making sure to wipe out the reservoir.
However, after filling the clutch system with US made Racetech DOT 5.1 brake fluid in no longer got dark. I've been using this fluid in my clutch and brake lines for the last 3 years or so. It is expensive and probably synthetic based but works well and doesn't turn black.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  7. That's interesting. I'll get some and try that as well. I need some more fluid anyway.

  8. Where do you get it from? That link is to somewhere in Malaysia!
