Does anyone know what distance the clutch push rod end travels between full in and full out operation of the clutch slave cylinder ? I'm guessing it will be less than 6mm because by my measurement, if it is more the first driven steel plate in the stack would fall off the clutch centre . Thanks, Andy
you have hit on an interesting subject Andy, Generally there is far more travel within the slave than needed but it's good to have the provision for adjustment if necessary. Total travel required (at the plates) is only around 2 mm but will vary of course depending on how warped the plates are and how many dished plates are fitted.
Sorry - you are right, I misinterpreted the question and I could only guess at how much total travel is as it hasn't caused me a problem yet and of course it comes down to both master and slave cylinder bores. Someone produced a chart in the past to show just how much travel and the difference it made using the different bores. The 2mm and the relevance of the plates is approx how much is needed to totally disengage a dry clutch from fully clamped to totally free. EDIT Having said that, I just measured 996 and 851 and both are around 2.5 mm using total travel of clutch lever so only a shade over above.
