748 Clutch Push Rod

Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by CarloL, Feb 10, 2019.

  1. my push rod snapped, Ducati have a later model with a location pin, my version has no pin

I have an oberon slave on there too

Any who, I fitted up everything, pressure plate, springs, master, but the lever is rock hard, I put back in my old rod, works fine

Do you need to remove the pin?

  2. To use the rod with the anti rotation pin in it you need a different slave cylinder ( one that has a slot in it for the pin).
You need to remove the pin or get a rod without a pin.

  3. Have you removed the small spacer, the 10mm or so one?

  4. I was looking for it Ian , but did not see it ; Mechanic fitted it , not too sure if he used the spacer or not

  5. The slave appears to have provision for the pin

  6. When you put the rod into the slave cylinder does it go in far enough for the pin to locate in the slot ?
if not you could have a space stuck in the cylinder and may need a magnet to pull it out.

  7. Once lined up , it will press all the way in

I think it is something stupid , the spacer is in there but measuring the 2 rods , they are the equal length, only difference is the pin

Will have a go at it again tomorrow
