Clutch Slave Cylinder

  1. Hi All

just changed my front sprocket on a 2010 Monster 696 but I removed the Clutch slave cylinder to fit it.
The issue I have now is when I go to install the slave cylinder it won’t go in the full way and my clutch lever is solid. Thanks for your help.

  2. Depending how far off you can get the slave cylinder from “fully home”* “ it would be slightly easier if you can get all three fixings in and very lightly tighten as far as you can go, I’m talking not much tighter than you could do by hand even. Then by carefully cracking open the bleed nipple on the slave, the very tiniest amount obviously with a cloth or even with a tube on it to catch the fluid as it comes out, and then closing immediately, you will find you can then carefully push it fully home. This is usually the answer unless something has happened mechanically rather than hydraulically, where the slave piston has advanced down its bore for some reason.

    * if you can’t even get the slave cylinder close to where it normally is bolted up tight, then you need to find a way of pushing the slave piston to the back of the bore, while doing the bleed nipple operation as above, which is a bit more fiddly as you could do with three hands! Even resting it in position located on the pushrod while just lightly helping it would work of course.

  3. Thanks for your help guys.
I just put a pipe on bleed nut and the other end into a bottle of brake fluid and opened it and the slave cylinder just pushed back in.
