My bike developed a misfire last weekend, when I went out for a ride my bike was just not running properly, after investigating I found that my coil in the front cylinder looked a bit suspect, pics attached, I am waiting on a replacement being sent, anyone had similar issues?
Chattancati, did you get any error or EOBD code? Also do you have a meter? You can often check if the coil is breaking down with a simple resistance measurement across two of the three pins in the coil LT plug
Hi Denzil, No error codes at all, the resistance values on the damaged coil appear to be the same as the good one, however the problem only really appears when the bike is hot, I suspect the insulation is breaking down when hot and thats when it misfires, a new one is being sent from the dealer and I'll update the post when I've fitted it, I've also just changed the plugs too just incase a faulty plug is the issue. If you look at the pics there is a distinct swelling to the coil around the area where the cables enter, possibly allowing some water ingress too.
