Comfortable for 2?

  1. Hi all just I would just like to ask if the SF is a bike that is comfortable for 2 up riding, my wife wants to start coming out on the bike with me but the single seat configuration on my Aprilia Dorsoduro is not cutting the mustard, I have always wanted a Ducati so if I change bikes that is what I am getting!

    I am considering...

Hypermotard 1100 Evo SP (could have the same issue as the Dorsoduro in terms of seat but looks bigger?)
Multistrada 1200 (probably too expensive to purchase and insure and seems to have many problems)
SF 848 (not sure if passenger would be comfortable)
Monster 1100 Evo (same as above)

    Opinions folks?

  2. Oh and what is the tank size on the SF?

  3. Go o a friendly dealer an try one. Friend who does/has done lo of 2 up on different spots bikes reckoned his 'soft luggage' liked it

  4. No. You're definitely looking in the wrong area for two-up travel.

    Just get a thinner wife...

  5. I know in my heart of hearts the Multi is the bike I want but it's a serious amount of dosh and reliability seems to be an issue!

@figaro my wife is thin enough thank you :D

  6. Don't write off the older Multistrada 1100, it's still a capable, enjoyable bike even if it doesn't command the headlines of the 1200.

  7. Most multi problems are on 2010 bikes or S models, not had any problems with my Std 2011 one, as for 2 up Mrs loves mine helped especially with topbox as a back rest.

Insurance should not be an issue no more expensive than most modern bikes

  8. It's pig ugly though :frown:

  9. My wife flat refuses to go on the back of the streetfighter. Other than being too uncomfortable it's also too extreme with the power etc. She has no problem on the back of the hypermotard, we did 5 hours to the TT non stop on it

  10. How do you manage adjusting the suspension when riding 2 up on the standard version?

  11. Can't argue with that...

  12. I think I will take her with me to test ride the Hyper and the Multi and go from there

  13. Wise words indeed, I wouldn't dream of test riding something I was serious about without taking Nicky with me! Although I am the one riding, what's the point of having a bike for 2 if the other half doesn't want to get on the back? That's why I didn't end up with the old Multi, Nicky found the pillion just a little too close to me.

  14. Been pillion on the old multi and a pillion on a monster
Wouldn't pillion again on a monster as I felt like I would fall off not confidence inspiring. Havnt been on a newer monster
The multi was fab loved it apart from wind blast over 80.
Had a top box too and felt very confident on being a pillion.

    That's just my thoughts

Have to say I loved pillion on the SS with the right rider :)

  15. Get a new wife then

  16. would be worth a crack on the SF or you'd never know

  17. Are you just here to troll? Quite clearly we were talking about the old Multi, get a life!

  18. I agree although any excuse to be cuddled up would do me :)
I mean to the rider oh you get my drift

  19. FFS get a life. It was just a bit of fun. Or have you had a sense of humour bypass?

Make your own mind up. Buy what you like. I really don't give a hoot.

  20. The idea of a cuddle is always appreciated, unfortunately in this case it was a question of permenantly cuddled up with no room to move that put a mockers on that idea!
