One for the experts, I have a very early 1989 900ss, will a fuel tank from a 89/90 400ss junior fit it, the only comparison I have is the bag Alix, site says there cover fits 400 to900 models which is a bit tenuous to splash a couple of hundred quid on the chance it's OK, course if anyone has a spare tank laying around let me know thanks for your time, Dave
I can't say with 100% certainty but just like the later 400 and 900 tanks are interchangeable, I can't believe the early version would be any different. Hopefully someone will come along and confirm. You could ask for more pictures dimensions from seller? I do happen to have a 900 tank in very good condition but belongs to a bike which would be a shame to break.
Thanks for the reply, no I need a tank as I have a blue Ducati but have acquired a full set of red panels, I want to change her clothes without having to spray my lovely blue tank
Unless I am about to learn something, I believe that that is the wrong fuel tank for that bike, it's the later SS carb type. If you have a good look at the tank fixings, this will confirm it as they won't look standard. Have you gone ahead and purchased the other tank yet?
agreed, the tank fitted is a 91/97, hinge and clip have been fitted, I am going to look and make sure the fittings are simply bolted on, if they have I will buy the tank, otherwise I will hang on for another 91/97
Nice unique bike, with an interesting mix of parts. It looks like a 1989-90 engine, frame, rear plastics and forks. The fairings are from something else entirely or aftermarket. The tank is a 1993-97.
