Completesave.co.uk - Tactics Just Short Of A Scam - Worth A Read

  1. I felt I might post this as a word of warning because there are plenty of members here and just maybe one or two have or are being caught out by this company's underhanded tactics.

In November last year I ordered a Pizza online via Papa John's. This a smaller chain then Pizza Hut etc. but no doubt people will at least have heard of them.

Whilst completing the order online I was offered the opportunity of a discount next time, tick here etc.

I didn't think much of it as a few pop up boxes appear over this companies website. Today I decided to check my online credit card bill and I found a deduction for £15 from this company above, I found this strange as I had bought nothing on my card this month at all so far, unusual as I buy a lot of things via post and use my credit card often through PayPal.

I phoned the Credit Card company to see what this was and it turns out that for the last 8 months! (yes my fault for not checking my card statements in greater detail) this company have been deducting £15 a month for a so called voucher saving scheme which includes cashback, High Street savings, discounts on products etc.

I have never had any emails from this company at all and probably if I did they would hit spam and never be forwarded on to me. Clearly from what I have read this is engineered to be like that so as not to draw attention to what you have apparently agreed.

I immediately stopped this monthly payment and was told by my card company to contact the above and query this.

I phoned and was told I had signed up with them online as part of a partners offer attached, in my case to Papa John's, I said I hadn't, they said I had and we argued a bit. I asked for a read receipt and evidence that I had agreed to all this and what IP address had sent this and was it mine. Anyway they said they would send proof but in the mean time they would cancel my account as I had never agreed to any of this. Needless to say no proof of any sort has been sent.

Without hesitation they offered three months refund, that seemed quite good as I didn't know how long it had been going on, I assumed not that long. Anyway I didn't leave it there and got this persons supervisor on the line and played merry hell dressing her down in a polite but incisive manner. In fact I gave her so much grief I got 8 months refund in a following email, a full refund of all my payments and all taken without me even spotting it amongst the many entries on my statement.

The partners scheme that is run involves at least these businesses, Papa John's, The Trainline, Easyjet and Ticketmaster, there are obviously more. The point being if you have bought anything from any of these businesses online then you could have inadvertently signed up with Completesave without even knowing it.

If you use any of these businesses especially, then checking you credit card or bank statement might save you money or get you a refund.

This company is banned in America now for the tactics it uses and they are like eBay, their bank used is a Swiss Bank to get my\your money.

To add to this, if you complain they will immediately refund you three months payments without question, but what they don't tell you is how long you have been paying them, so some people will walk away with a three months repayment and feel happy and check no further. They say if you want to claim any more then you have to complete a claim form. I kicked up big time and they just refunded me to get rid of me.

Please be warned this is a close to a legal "scam" as you can get and I would be interested if anyone else here has been caught out.

A quick Google will show the extent of what they are all about, so I don't need to elaborate, just read the stacks of complaints on various money and scam forums, they are right up there at the top of some.
