916 Confirming Early 916 Strada Credentials

Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by tricolore, Sep 25, 2016.

  1. How do you confirm an early Monoposto 916 is a genuine Strada ?

Is there a frame number which confirms this. Any tell tale signs ? I know the early ones had 'Ducati Racing' around the rear wheel hub and should be approx 94/95 registered but some are registered in 1996, even 97. I suppose the subframe should be a different, but this could have been changed ?

There's a few for sale at the moment, I'm tempted but cautious not a genuine Strada.

  2. They have a P8 ecu and associated differences to the timing sensor position.
Subframe will be different to suit the ecu.

  3. Mr R got there with the same advice....

Should they look like this ?

  5. Yes, that's a P8 ECU which, AFAIK was only used on the original Strada and then subsequent SP and SPS models. The biposto used the 1.6M and whilst it's easy to convert biposto to monoposto etc. 'converting' the ECU would be much more complex.

  6. You could also run the frame no. by Ducati for confirmation of model and production date.
