Connecting my phone to the Multistrada 1200 Power Supply

  1. Please can you advise the best way to connect my phone to the Multistrada Power supply. I am undertaking a 1600 mile figure of 8 trip round England Scotland and Wales for charity and need my phone powered up at all times as we are tracking the route on line.
    My phone is a blackberry.

  2. After fuckin about with a few different types of sockets wired up to the power lead under the left side carbon panel and having fuse failure just when i didnt need it i opted for a cheap waterproof ciggy type effort off ebay wired direct to the battery and have had no trouble since!

  3. Other than the two factory sockets on each side, that will require a converter from the hella plugs, there is also a switched live at the front that powers the factory satnav. I took power from here with a splitter and use this to power both satnav & to charge up phone.

Along these lines, just cut off the single end and connected to power, its already fused Car twin power socket extension auxilary cig aux 12v | eBay

  4. I took the rear offside panel off, cut into the wires supplying the power socket and spliced and soldered a power socket (car type) into that and taped it back into a loom.
I'd drilled a hole from the storage area under the passenger seat and run the wires through that. That feed is switched so there's no danger of flattening your battery and you can use either a standard phone adaptor or a universal USB charger that will charge your camera etc as well.
I then velcro'd a phone case into the boot to prevent it moving around.
2000 miles in Europe in May with no issues at all.

  5. Ultimate Addons is your answer IMHO! - I used their kit and took power from the SatNav wire (under the left hand lower fairing panel). The Hardwire battery charging kit fits perfectly into the little glovebox on the MTS once you remove the rubber liner, and you can coil the wire back in there when not needed. I also got a waterproof iphone case and ball mount adapter. I keep the case under the seat. If I ever need SatNav unexpectedly, I just fish the case out from under the seat, mount it and pop my phone in (running CoPilot). I am rarely without my phone, but don't always want SatNav mounted.

Here's the Blackberry specific cable link together with the hardwire charger box

I know a few folks on this forum have used the same solution.

    Hope this helps !

  8. Brilliant - thanks very much for the info. Just ordered the UA hard wire battery charging kit with mini-USB cable. I've got an iPhone 4S, a Navihalter mount and a Wahoo iPhone 4S case that has a mini-USB charger input. I just need to figure out how to attach the Wahoo case to the Navihalter mount and then I'm in business :)
