  1. Hi Guys
Yes i know i should talk to an accountant but if my numbers dont add up its not worth going any further.
I have a potential opportunity to work in Brussels or Italy for a year or two. I am sure some of you have done very similar and would love to tap into some of your knowledge and experiences of the tax implications. If someone has been in a similar position perhaps the intricacies of renting a flat/house abroad.
    Thanks in advance guys.

P.s if the numbers really stack up i am back in the world of Ducati purchase. Numpty strada please Santa

  2. Good luck.

Have a couple of mates who have done it loads, but they always steer me clear as tax implications can be quite large. Am sure there are a few on here who know the score :upyeah:

  3. Hi Bradders
Blimey, thats about the quickest response i think i have ever had. Even when i have said something that annoyed someone !
I think the job i am chasing might work even if i pay tax at the same 40% as a PAYE employee back here. Depending on the allowable expenses % i might be in a good situation.
    Thanks again

  4. My brother has lived/worked abroad for over twenty years (in Holland, Dubai and is now in Romania). To get round paying tax I think he has to stay out of the UK for six months of the year. But speak to an accountant.

  5. If working in Europe for 2 years then you will not be liable for UK tax but will pay tax in the country that you are working in. I could write pages, but won't.

  6. Give Belgium a miss and go Italy..........

  7. Funny you should say that. The ultimate goal is to get into one of their 3 sites in Italy.Prove myself in Belgium first.

Located close to each of these 3 places, either Milan, Venice or Naples

In response to avoiding U.K tax. Thats not my goal really becuase the tax rates in Belgium are much worse and its them i want to avoid. Paying the U.K rate is acceptable compared to theirs.
I just want to know how much i can write down against tax along the way.

  8. Chatting to a guy today, who worked in Ireland for 2 years, he had to pay twice the level of UK tax. He did claim some back though, as a UK resident, but it was hard work and he had to prove some residency stuff.
